1 Timothy 6:12
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Going on in Jesus steps is certainly not easy if it were most everyone would get saved even if just for the blessings and benefits. However it’s not, in fact it goes against most everything my soul used to want to do. But by trial and error, plenty of error we learn which direction to go and how best to navigate it for us. This does not necessarily apply to all the Christians you know. It is definitely not one path fits all, it seems that way when you read the bible but it doesn’t play out that way. Not that we break away from scripture but how we go about fitting into it.
1 Corinthians 8
9 Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols?
I have been riding my bicycle for over 3 months and I have lost 8 lbs. And 11/2 inches off my waist. I have learned some new lessons in order to be more successful at this endeavor.
1) Don’t ride further than you can make it back. Don’t go beyond your abilities and don’t let pride get you in a difficult position.
2) Have a flat tire repair kit.
3) Know your surroundings – where water or bathrooms can be found, wherecould you find help if a problem arose. Make sure your cell phone is fully charged and verify that you have it.
4) When riding down hills enjoy the breeze but when you go up hills don’t focus on the hill keep your eyes on the road. Keep your eyes on the prize that is the top of the hill. Doing this you focus on the solution and not the problem. If you watch the top of the hill you expect it to be hard but if you watch the road you will be half way up even before you notice its getting harder to peddle.
17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
When you encourage others you get them to focus on Jesus and not the problem.
When you build a relationship with the Holy Spirit we prepare for ourselves a fortress to run to in times of trouble. Building the fortress ahead of time makes some difficult situations almost none existent.
22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.[f]
