I had a dream and in the dream I am in a room with 2 other people. A girl who is very outgoing and animated, very upbeat. I remember she had work jeans with the straps that go over your shoulders and only socks and I never saw her face. The other person was taking a selfie, he had a blue transparent glass plate 2 ft. square and holding it in front of him he shined a flashlight on it and the blue hue reflected back on him. The he took the coolest photo of himself the picture had sort of a soft bluish hue and it looked great. I remember thinking he was a professional at this. Now I hear from an unseen source the words subjective reasoning. Then I wake up?
So I do some research....
The Danger of Subjectivism in the life of the Christian
by Jack Kettler 2012
Subjectivity can be defined as judgments that are based on individual experiences and feelings instead of outside facts. For the Christian, outside facts are as The Westminster Confession of Faith 1.6 says, “The whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for his own glory, man’s salvation, faith and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men.”
In subjectivism, individuals are governed by emotions, feelings, intuition and mystical experiences. Subjectivism is often manifested when you hear something along the lines of, “I feel” instead of “I know.” As stated above, the Christian should be governed by the teaching of Scripture. The Christian should always ask, what does God say about this in Scripture? If not using Scripture as the standard, nothing about how the Christian should live, can be known for certain. The Christian will be plagued by an inability to make Biblically based decisions if subjectivity is allowed creep in. We want to know what God's Word says for our lives and act accordingly.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
7 Do not be wise in your own eyes;
fear the LORD and shun evil.
8 This will bring health to your body
and nourishment to your bones.
God is telling us we are not going to figure everything out some or most of it is beyond us. Seeking wisdom and thinking you are wise are so very different. I believe God is telling us not to waste too much time being smart but being loving. The wisdom of all things is mostly beyond our reach but love is not. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive for wisdom and accomplishment just don’t get lost in it. Similar to the love of money is the root of evil not the money itself. The uncontrolled love of anything other than God will lead to destruction.
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothes?
31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Planning for tomorrow is not the same as worrying about tomorrow. Planning relies upon wisdom and worry relies upon fear. One is of God the other is not.
Lord forgive us for any substitution of your word in our lives. Lord teach us how to use what we learn and experience in conjunction with your word. Lord we believe in your word and we desire that our lives be propped up by it in every area of our lives….Amen
