The Wisdom of God is The Map To Your Future

Everyone who lives on the Earth is looking for something. Life often appears to be game of chance; some people seem to have a better opportunity than others at having a (worldly perception) successful life. At one time in my life, I was part of a network marketing program. I learned many good business principles and gained understanding in successful marketing principals.

One of the things they taught that stuck is “wealth is when you do not have to go to work tomorrow… ever. Rich is when you live at a higher standard than most but you do need to go to work.”

The definition of “wealth” and “rich” are vastly different.

Why do I even care about this as I am neither rich nor wealthy according to what I have been taught?

This principal is also true in the Kingdom of God: We have a significant say in the overall outcome of our lives.

In America, you can be nearly whatever you are willing to give yourself to; whatever you want to be excellent in.

NOTE: There are many different circumstances to simply have a successful life. In our lifetime, the perils we face are too numerous to list. Proverbs 3:5

5 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

If we are not to lean on our insight or our understanding, then what are we to do?

Where should we look?

Who should we listen to?

Upon further examination, the Word says to lean on and trust in the Lord with all I am. Wow! I have enough trouble just taking care of myself and my family, how can I walk this imaginary path with God? I do not even know how to learn how to do this.

We all live our lives as best as we can and believe on the Lord with all we have and hope for the best.

Let’s say this was a school project; we need to solve the problem to pass.

How would we go about it?

If I am dealing with a spiritual problem, the only reference book available is the Holy Bible.

Where would I even look to get started?

We would first ask our leaders and friends to se if they could point us in the right direction. For the sake of this discussion, let’s say you are on your own. Search: “How do I know how to live a successful Christian Life?”

[if ppt][endif]There are only two names in the Google results I recognize: Billy Graham and Reinhard Bonnke.

The others can be from anywhere; you must be careful. Let’s look at the ones we know and see what they have to say. 5 Things to Follow: Reinhard Bonnke’s Website

1. Realize your greatness is in God. Twice the Bible makes this wonderful, all-inclusive statement: “With God all things are possible” (see Matt. 19:26, Mark 10:27). Note the preposition with. To you all things are possible, with God. Joshua did not ride into Canaan on the back of an Arabian stallion but marched in upon the basis of the promises of God. God told him: “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you” (Josh. 1:3). 2. All of God’s promises to others are ours by faith. God’s Word is for you as much as if He personally appeared and spoke it to you. Your only requirement is to “put on” His promises by faith. What had God promised to Joshua? “From the wilderness ... to the going down of the sun, shall be your territory” (Josh. 1:4). For Joshua and Israel, the only land remaining to be possessed was what Joshua had made up his mind to have. It was theirs by faith. And it happened when he decided. The door of history swung open at his touch. 3. Get a vision of what you should do for God, then work to bring it about. One of the most deeply rooted beliefs (actually, unbelief’s) some have is that God’s presence is greater with some people than with others. But from the beginning God said, “I will not leave you nor forsake you” (Josh. 1:5). He promised this to Joshua and repeated the same statement 1,300 years later by the writer of Hebrews (see Heb. 13:5). God is with us not because we are good or because we have great faith; He is with us because He has committed Himself irrevocably to us. If God was with us only when we had success, success would never come. 4. Know that God is with you as much as He was with anybody. Don’t hang around waiting for the right circumstances. God is your circumstance. He is with you. Others before you simply took advantage of this great circumstance, believed it and acted on it. You can go forth in the name of the Lord with the same courage that God drummed into Joshua: “Be strong and of good courage” (1:6); “Only be strong and very courageous” (v. 7); “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid nor be dismayed” (v. 9). 5. Believe God’s Word and act on it. God didn’t give Joshua much forewarning when He said within three days Joshua would cross the Jordan River to possess the land (see Josh. 1:11). Israel had been on the east side of the Jordan for an entire generation. They were used to thinking of the other side of the Jordan as Fantasy Land. They had become “grasshoppers” in their own sight (see Num. 13:33). If you think you are a grasshopper, you are; because as a person “thinks in his heart, so is he” (Prov. 23:7). But in God you are not a grasshopper—ever.

“Cast off feelings of inferiority. Remember: A person’s greatness lies only in God. That is why Joshua succeeded. The same God who was with Moses was with him. He’s the same God who is with You!”

After 5 biblically–backed guidelines, Reinhard gives a statement of encouragement. This is all good, solid material. Billy Graham: 10 Guidelines for Christian Living

1.Read your Bible daily. Do not be content to skim through a chapter merely to satisfy your conscience. Hide the Word of God in your heart. It comforts, guides, corrects, encourages – all we need is there.

2.Learn the secret of prayer. Prayer is communicating. Every prayer that you pray will be answered. Sometimes that answer may be “Yes” and sometimes “No,” and sometimes it is “Wait,” but nevertheless it will be answered.

3.Rely constantly on the Holy Spirit. We know that the Holy Spirit prays for us (Romans 8), and what a comfort that should be to the weakest of us. Stand aside and let Him take over all the choices and decisions of your life.

4.Attend church regularly. The visible church is Christ’s organization upon earth. Christians need one another, we need to gather together to worship God and nothing can take the place of church attendance.

5.Be a witnessing Christian. We witness in two ways: by life and by word – and the two, where possible, should go hand in hand.

6.Let love be the ruling principle of your life. Jesus said to those who followed Him, “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another” (John 13:25). The greatest demonstration of the fact that we are Christians is that we love one another.

7.Be an obedient Christian. Let Christ have first place in all the choices of your life.

8.Learn how to meet temptation. Temptation is not sin. It is yielding that is sin. Let Christ through the Holy Spirit do the fighting for you.

9.Be a wholesome Christian. Our lives and appearance should commend the Gospel and make it attractive to others.

10.Live above your circumstances. Don’t let your circumstances get you down. Learn to live graciously within them, realizing the Lord Himself is with you.

Guidelines for Christian Living is excerpted from “Peace with God” by Billy Graham, published in 1953, revised and expanded in 1984.

These websites both have really good information from two different schools of thought. That’s even better because I now have different viewpoints.

After quite a while of searching the same question but rephrasing to get different answers, I got nothing new. The one word I was looking for never came up which was “Wisdom.”

“Seek the Wisdom of God” never once came up…

In the King James Bible, “Wisdom” is found 181 times. Just searching Psalms and Proverbs, let’s take at a look at what we can find. Psalm 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding. To him belongs eternal praise.

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Proverbs 2:12 Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,

Proverbs 3:21 My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion;

Proverbs 4:1 [ Get Wisdom at Any Cost ] Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.

Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.

Proverbs 4:6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.

Proverbs 4:7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

Proverbs 4:11 I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.

Proverbs 8:11 for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Proverbs 9:12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.

Proverbs 19:8 The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.

Proverbs 28:26 Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.

Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdom’s instruction.

Let’s describe Wisdom as the ability to figure out how God would do things. Even though all those other scriptures and references are true and awesome, the most valuable thing we can get from God aside from Love is Wisdom.
