Spiritual Gifts: An Overview

Ephesians 4 (NKJV)

Walk in Unity

"I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."

Let Forgiveness Have Its Way

We are one just as Jesus and the Father are one.

God says here to stop fighting, stop being disrespectful to each other, and don’t just live and forgive but let forgiveness have its way in you. Let the gentleness of Christ work thru you like flavoring, through and through, to the bone. Let your heart become so gentle that you don’t need to forgive because you don’t take anything personal.

The big lesson here is God doesn’t hold against you where you have been; no He’s concerned with where you are going. God’s goal is to clean you up and make you into a son of the most high God.

Spiritual Gifts

Ephesians 4 (NKJV)

"7 but to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore He says:

“When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.”"

As a result, Jesus:

~Defeated evil
~Took back the keys of authority
~In there was contained the gifts He gave to men.

We call them “The Gifts of the Holy Spirit.”

Ephesians 4 (NKJV)

“9 Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.
11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ”

The Purpose of Spiritual Positions

Here the fivefold ministry is set in place by God to build His church.
Jesus assigned these positions of authority among men to:
~Get people saved
~Get them free from the works of the Devil
~Train them in the ways of righteousness
~To become the manifested sons of God

Ephesians 4 (NKJV)

“13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

In Time: The Maturity of Gifts

The ministry gifts will continue until the body of Christ (the church) reaches maturity.

I do not believe this will occur until Jesus returns, unless it is just a Mighty move of the Holy Spirit by the will of the Father.

The Requirements for Your Gifts

In conclusion, we state that there are gifts from God that Jesus gave for the building of men and the church. These gifts are managed by the Holy Spirit as He sees fit. Every believer has some gifts from God and we are required to:
~Be Saved and Forgiven
~Be Committed to God
~Be Led by the Holy Spirit
~Clothe ourselves in Righteousness
~Ask to be used by God and allow/accept your Gifts

Father God,
We come before You “In the Name of Jesus.” We ask to be forgiven for any un-repented sins. We ask to be cleansed from any brainwashing or defilement or emotional trauma. We ask that you would replace our stony heart with a heart of flesh, so we can be led by your Holy Spirit. We ask that the gifts you have given to me be released and that the Holy Spirit would train me in how to use those gifts according to your will.
