The Gospel of Howard: Three scriptures that changed me and defined who I was and who I was to become.
15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him."
To see God, do what He says to do; It is as simple as that…
Scripture only becomes difficult when we try to figure out a way to get God to reveal Himself without holding up our end of the covenant.
God woke me up and said stop wasting my time. Pour out what I have poured in and stop trying to build a church.
Instead, build people to become the Church; it will spread and inhabit the land. Speak my word and the land will give itself to you. The land will accommodate you in spite of the will of man.
Once you establish your position in the Heavens and take the land where you stand, nothing will move you; not darkness or the will of man. You will sink knee deep into the land and no storm will be able to move you.
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
Have A Vision
You must have a vision even if it is only short term - 3 months. Spending two years learning the will of God for your life is walking with vision and not a waste of time. Vision doesn’t mean you must be doing something only that you have purpose and direction.
Do not wander from church to church from teaching to teaching. If you have a fear of man, don’t take a leadership class. In other words, don’t put the cart before the horse.
Find freedom in Christ first and you will become a leader. The journey to freedom makes you everything you need to be, but most of all, it makes you what you want to be.
Following The Vision
I did not know I wanted to be the Pastor of a Church. If I had listened to those around me instead of my wife, our life would have been much different.
~ If you put your job in front of God, the devil will make you an offer you can’t refuse for the good of the family, of course.
~ If you put your spouse in front of God you will loose both.
Any part of your life that wants your position with God in exchange for peace or profit is a lie. Both of these come from God, so He wouldn’t ask for them.
Do not walk on your own, thinking you can hear from God and need no other direction. God does not like arrogance and He will let you folly in it until you come to your senses or come to the end of yourself.
The Self-Thinker Disrupts Your Vision
This self-thinker will be lead of by the doctrine of demons. Christianity is a team sport; God designed Christianity so one part could help another. This is to protect the group from pride; Pride is what brought down Lucifer. He said “do not tell me what to do, I can do what God does.”
Even though the believer does not go this far they are bullied by demons to walk their own walk, disguising themselves as messengers from God. At the very least, they are ineffective in their goals.
Identity of the Self-Thinker
Self-thinkers stick out because they will skip parts of the walk the body is going through by insisting the Lord has already dealt with them concerning this.
~ If this is the case than go through it for the group to keep unity and help someone besides yourself.
Self-thinkers often succumb to changing their vision to accommodate some new attack that is outside their control. “It is not my fault” they will tell you. Some person or group less mature than them is holding them from greatness.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5
1 When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.[a] 2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.
The kingdom of God is not engineered by the wisdom and plans of men, but by the Heart of God. If I heal my neighbors bad heart for the purpose of Christ than his ear is mine. I will win him and his family to Christ and everyone they speak to. So, shouldn’t I purpose myself to learn how to do this?
12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
God’s Vision For Howard
God did not pick me because I was cute. I was hard headed, independent, rebellious, and a loner who did not care what people thought… not afraid to break some heads; not guided by the opinions of men.
What I had was a heart that thought people deserved justice and an even chance. What the people were getting was their heads handed to them while they were being told to like it and keep their mouth shut.
Jesus said the truth will set you free. Jesus is the truth, all truth lies in Him. So, if you want to be free from anything, go get Jesus through His word and prayer.
