Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Understanding the meaning of salvation and the work of the cross are more reaching than you might believe. Although the process is indeed simple, the walking out of salvation and the all-encompassing effects are not. They are in fact so amazing and far reaching, it takes a lifetime to just begin to envision what lies ahead.
But let’s stick with what we can grasp... Being unsaved, we are owned by sin and its ways. We might believe we are our own, but that would be the mistake that the Devil is counting on. He is in fact counting on you to be so arrogant you believe you can handle it.
I Corinthians 15:56-57 (NKJV)
56 the sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Wouldn’t it be stupid for God to give us a victory we do not need? Humility is one very important key to overcoming everything. Humility destroys arrogance, allows us to listen to God, live in peace, and walk in victory without even hardly trying.
Romans 8:7-8 (NKJV)
7 because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
The flesh is a liar; the flesh will let you think you have victory over anything you want, just so it can hide a piece of that sin to be resurrected later at a more opportune time.
Romans 6:6-8 (NKJV)
6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin. 8 Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
Our death to sin has already occurred. It is not when we die that we are freed; it already happened.
Colossians 3:1-4 (NKJV)
3 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Just as we were corrupted little by little and day by day, it is in the same way, we defeat the flesh and the plans of darkness. The way of Christ is His word in us, the lessons, teachings, and revelations; they are applied to our flesh and our lives just like a healing salve. They draw out the poison of fleshly teachings and the works of the flesh. The word of Jesus and the Bible fills in the areas being healed and makes us whole.
