As I contemplate a life lived for and with Christ, what I came to see was that Christ gave us the victory and that thru Him, we can have a victorious life.
As I continued to think about these two concepts I came to see them as completely different parts of the same event.
In its Old Testament, the concept of victory was more than just a military conquest, although that was surly part of it. At the core of it, victory is ultimately something that comes from the Lord, and it is the Lord who carries on the fight. David's defeat of Goliath was in fact the Lord's victory wrought for all Israel and there are many other examples.
A : having won a victory, a victorious army
B : of, relating to, or characteristic of victory
A : evincing moral harmony or a sense of fulfillment : fulfilled
What I want to discuss here is “a sense of fulfillment.”
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Everyone knows this scripture and that it deals with salvation thru Christ only. However salvation is not the only victory Jesus secured for us. We also receive healing, deliverance from evil influences, prosperity and various blessings just to name a few. So we can see that Jesus victory at the cross was a complete game changer for us. Acting on the victory Christ has given us produces a victorious life, which is a victory that keeps going. That one single victory thru Christ gives me victory over everything every single day. Thereby becoming more than a conquer thru Christ.
Romans 8:31-32 / 8:37
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
So where is this victory in our everyday lives? Its right before your eyes, In 1 Corinthians 15 Scripture says to be steadfast and abounding in the work of the Lord. We approach life with little effort because that’s what everyone does and we get what everyone gets. The victorious life is in the living of the life of Christ, in the doing of Christ’s will. Victorious living is following of the way of Jesus which produces a victorious life, it’s a side effect. When we live a life that is Spirit led the victory goes before us.
1 Corinthians 15:57-58
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Christ has given us the victory at the cross and if we remain “in Him” we will live a victorious life.
Jesus we bless your name and we come before you today to ask that You would teach us how to live the Victorious Life every day.
