In Need Of A Deep Cleanse
Everyone remembers some fun times or other events in the earlier years of our lives. Along with these events there are other events we want to forget forever.
The trouble is they don’t want to be forgotten; they want to hang around in the subconscious for a new opportunity to mess with your life. They are trying to remind us to fix this problem.
The reason they don’t go away is because we don’t deal with them correctly. The effect of these events still lingers in our bones, deep in the recesses of our minds, and only by the healing of Jesus, who is the Word, can this be accomplished.
Heal The Infection, Don’t Manage it
I see many people who have just learned to manage their old memories; they no longer even going to the place it hurts. Each day putting on a good face and making the best of it. Don’t live like this, stop today!
Today, you begin to let Jesus be the healer of your heart and get your life back. When you were a kid and fell down, what did you do? Once you gathered yourself and managed to your feet. You washed the injured area with water and cleaned the injury so the healing can begin.
If you close it up before you wash it you are likely to get an infection. Many of us are seeking a touch from the Lord to keep the infection under control. I am here today to remind you that water still works.
9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Want To Be Better
Just because you’re saved don’t think you are exempt from other challenges.
Feeling better is better than feeling bad. However, I don’t want to just feel better any more, I want to be better! I want to be free from the effects of this world.
1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.
(We are the prisoners)
Take Back Your Life
For years I asked God to cause me to forget my past. The correct action is to wash your mind with the Word and prayer.
Healing begins with realizing that whatever occurred, the Devil was behind it and your particular memory is just the vehicle the Devil uses to attack you. The Devil is trying to attack God through you because you are God’s great love.
The memories probably won’t go away in one day, but the 40 years of freedom to follow are worth it. Every day you’re going to thank Jesus for healing you, so you can completely release these feelings, be done with it, and not lose your memory. Had I lost my memory, I could not have written this sermon!
Read those healing scriptures; speak them out loud, everyday! Do it like your life depended on it. You need the Holy Spirit to guide you through because we don’t remember all the details or events. The Holy Spirit can get you through it without shredding your heart.
The Word Heals
When you read the Word and take time to care about what you are reading, it is healing you!
God is aware of the vast amount of emotional destruction in the world and in the church. This is evidenced by the number of scriptures that deal with healing.
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
When you are healed, you will remember the event; maybe the event is still an unpleasant memory. However, the crippling feelings are gone, the emotions have been dealt with, forgiveness has replaced anger, but all this cannot happen until the healing does.
We get a little well with our band-aided efforts and the unhealed heart drags you back to that original place. You will go through it over and over until you’re healed.
The first step is to acknowledge the need for healing. For us to receive the healing of emotional wounds, we must first acknowledge that we are hurting (Matthew 9:10-13, Revelation 3:17). Many of us have lied to ourselves, as well as to others. We have said, "I'm really O.K." or "It really doesn't matter that much."
We may receive healing by:
(1) Understanding that Jesus suffered all kinds of emotional hurts (Isaiah 53:3) and he became a hurt substitute (Isaiah 53:4) for us.
(2) Believing that Jesus was sent to heal the broken hearted (Luke 4:18).
(3) Asking in faith for that healing.
When God heals the wound, we may recall the experience without being flooded by the pain.
