The Enemy Within
Galatians 5:17 King James For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that you cannot do the things that you would.
This war is in full bloom, whether you like it or not; whether you want to participate or not, you were drafted not asked. Those who do not learn the skills to compete suffer the consequences. This is a struggle for supremacy, to see who will rule your life and what direction your life will take.
Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
Flesh is rooted in 3 areas:
Lust of the flesh
Lust of the eyes
Marked by extreme desire to acquire or possess
Pride of life
I am better than you.
Life in this world is centered on me and what I want. If you don’t serve my needs I have no use for you. If you help me get everything I want than you can be my friend. These people gather worshipers around them. Usually they trade companionship for servitude. 1 John 2:16 New American Standard Bible (©1995) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.
Spirit is rooted in 3 areas: Love, Hope and Faith
Love(of God) represents the Father
Love of the Father sent His Son.
Hope(in Christ) represents the Son
Hope is the Son, Jesus who makes a way.
Faith(in God) represents the Spirit
Faith, thru the Spirit becomes reality.
Romans 8:14 King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. We can have love, hope, and faith in ourselves, but this is the way of flesh. Everything must come from and through God. We seek not to be our own source but to reflect the Father. Like a mirror reflects and image, we reflect what God has done to us. If I work by faith in me than all things are not possible. If I work by Gods faith, than all things are possible.
Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."
