Thinking is Not Believing

How do you grow your spiritual intellect? Is it by continuing to read scripture till you get it? Well, not every revelation comes through our hearing, teaching, or feeling. When we make it a practice of exploring scripture and dare to search out other meanings, we get new revelation.

For example, Jesus was broken for our healing - Is that just physical healing or does it include emotional healing? How about financial healing?

The first step would be to invite the Holy Spirit to teach you new things because all revelation comes through Him. (John 14:26- Holy Spirit is our teacher.) Specifically, ask the Holy Spirit to teach you new things as well as solidifying the lessons you have already learned. You are in essence asking to be let out of the box of traditional Christianity. Of course, we have our core beliefs and they can never change, but our understanding of other stuff needs to grow so we can see a bigger picture. As if stepping back from a puzzle to get a better prospective.

People have questions they are afraid to ask for fear of condemnation from the church family for questioning God. It is my opinion they are just too lazy to bother and so it’s an excellent excuse. If wisdom from God is first step than questions are second. If you don’t ask God and others questions and search it out, you will not learn much.

Genesis 6 5 Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

Now Genesis 5 tells the story of Adam and Cain and Able and their linage. How did we get to the flood? Where did all the corruption come from? Read Genesis 5 first for understanding.

It is likely that the Devil and his fallen angels can come and go as they please at this time. Who did Cain marry and have children with? Were there other people in the plain or maybe one of his sisters? However, it says that Cain was first and Able second born so I don’t see a sister here. So other people out on the plain who could they be?

Genesis 4 4 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, and said, “I have acquired a man from the LORD.” 2 Then she bore again, this time his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. 3 And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. 4 Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not respect Cain and his offering. And Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. 6 So the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.” Now God spoke to Cain about his offering and noted his anger; then told him how to deal with it. Gen 4 - 8 Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him. Cain goes and has a talk with his brother and afterward kills him. This begins the series of events that leads up to a violent filled earth and the flood.

Our world is filled with violence and people have no conviction regarding lying, theft, or evil in general. The only repentance is that they get caught, not the act itself. People are carried in high regard if they make money evil ways and are successful at it.

So is it time for Jesus return?

Matthew 24 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of [f]heaven, but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

You should be curious about this because your life and the lives of everyone you know hang on the outcome. Simply saying you don’t know is just being lazy and God expects us to be proactive. Is your career more important than a request from God? What if God were to ask you to go to Canada next week to run an errand for Him, would you do it?

Matthew 13:11 11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the [a]mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

Thinking and not believing is about entertaining ideas that are not mainstream; to determine whether they have any merit at all. If I think about a new twist on a scripture - as to decide if it is a new revelation or junk - it shows maturity and a teachable attitude. We must never challenge the core beliefs; Jesus died for our sins; Jesus rose from the dead; We are forgiven; We are not God; We follow God and our efforts are by God's power, not our own.

The conclusion of this thinking is we are reflections of a living loving God and we live and move through Him and Him alone. If these teachings are in your cells then you may look into the scriptures for more and the Holy Spirit will open your eyes and show you mysteries.

Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) 33 Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 2 “Thus says the LORD who made it, the LORD who formed it to establish it (the LORD is His name): 3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Be careful that you don’t share this discovered info with just anyone; if they don’t have your spiritual understanding they will label you a flake or worse. I believe the secrets of the Kingdom of God are in Geneses and some of them are discoverable by us. Only through love and relationship with Jesus are these doors accessible.

Jesus: thank you for the gift of the cross and our forgiveness. We ask to see some wonders of the kingdom and for understanding of the purposes of God in our lives and the world. Basic requirements: forgive everyone to the bone, Obedience without question, sonship.
