Peace That Lasts
Something we have just recently learned is the definition of "Shalom." And as it turns out we never understood it correctly at all. Here is the actual definition as revealed by the Hebrew pictograph: “The authority of God breaks the yoke that binds us to Chaos." This is the real definition of Shalom.
Shalom which is tied to peace is an essential part of having a peaceful life and walking in the power of God. In the word itself is a proclamation that will begin or continue the process of breaking up the ground of rebellion of deception in our lives.
John 14 23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Fathers who sent Me. 25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
The peace that Jesus left us is Shalom and it lives inside us, we however need to pursue the path that releases it within us and that path is Shalom.
Matthew 28 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Jesus will take time for you; we just need to take time for Him. The world wants to keep you so busy there is no time for a thought of God or a pursuit of Him. In this chaos their goal is accomplished no pursuit of God and further from it every day!
Hebrews 12 12-13 So don’t sit around on your hands! No more dragging your feet! Clear the path for long-distance runners so no one will trip and fall, so no one will step in a hole and sprain an ankle. Help each other out. And run for it! 14-17 Work at getting along with each other and with God. Otherwise you’ll never get so much as a glimpse of God. Make sure no one gets left out of God’s generosity. Keep a sharp eye out for weeds of bitter discontent. A thistle or two gone to seed can ruin a whole garden in no time. Watch out for the Esau syndrome: trading away God’s lifelong gift in order to satisfy a short-term appetite. You well know how Esau later regretted that impulsive act and wanted God’s blessing—but by then it was too late, tears or no tears.
The path to peace is not an easy one it’s just the only one. If the choice is the troubles of the world or the peace which is in God, that’s no choice at all.
Proverbs 16 7 When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
