Let's Build An Ark
Genesis 6:9-12 9 This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
13 And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
Genesis 5 32 And Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah begot Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Genesis 7 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.
Here is the story of Noah and how it unfolded is interesting to say the least. Here is Noah at 500 years old, he has 3 sons, and is told to build the Ark and how to do it. Noah’s sons were born as Noah started building the Ark, so they grew up working on the Ark and it was all they knew. He never had to talk them into helping because the Ark was all they had ever known.
Second, it took around a hundred years to actually build the Ark and interestingly enough a person’s life can be around 100 yrs. Do we think there is a connection here?
Noah built the Ark to follow God’s direction, protect his family and their future from a flood that had never occurred before. They didn’t even know what a flood was because it had never rained before.
Preparations and provisions in the building of the Ark are a reflection of the skills we learn in order to survive. The life we build is for the exact some reasons, security, safe environment to have a hope for a future and family. (Continuing of the Species-Mankind)
Proverbs 16 The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. 2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes; But the LORD weighs the spirits. 3 Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established.
The Ark we build is built with God’s help; the extent that we allow God to move in our lives is equal to the amount of oversight or help we get from God. Matthew 6:33 says that if we seek God and learn and follow His ways, He will supply all we need and then some.
Romans 15 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is God within us and with us, He teaches, helps and corrects us, as necessary. We can let Him lead us or we can resist which leads to problems and a lengthening of troubles. Learn to love God's oversight and let His plan run your life and enjoy your days that God has given.
